As part of the classroom management for classes I would sub for I would utilize lesson plans given to me by the teacher. I would make sure students are focused and completing their work while utilizing interpersonal skills and communication to deal with disruptive behaviors while in the classroom. Should students need to be checked out or leave to an off campus event I am in communication with the front office staff to coordinate with them in regard to this. Should a student need my assistance I would offer it to them to the best of my ability. Should I not know enough about the subject matter I would have them work with another classmate who better understood the assignment and materials for it. In addition to prepping before the classes began I would leave notes for the teacher regarding trouble students for them. I take attendance at the beginning of class and generally would have a trustworthy student take the attendance to the attendance office right after I took role or at the end of class. At the end of the day I would then return to the office manager with the binder, classroom keys and any other materials that I would need to return to them.

Within this position I would work with at risk youth regarding behavioral issues they struggled with. Myself and my fellow coworkers would supervise the youth on the ranch daily and observe interactions between themselves and other residents and staff. Should a situation get out of hand either verbally or physically I would step in to remove the youth away from the situation or individual(s) causing the incident. I would utilize crisis communication in order to bring them down from a heightened emotional state and back to baseline behavior. Should a situation escalate quickly to where law enforcement was needed myself or another staff would initiate that communication. In those escalated situation I would additionally need to write incident reports for our own records, CCL, as well as Probation or Social Workers who were over each youth involved. The youth also had access to licensed therapists and substance abuse counselors with whom they would meet with weekly or daily according to the needs of their programs. As part of providing behavioral management myself and other coworkers would lead DBT groups to assist the youth in utilizing DBT skills to better their self and emotional regulation at the ranch and in public situations.

Warehouse Worker
-
Aug 2013 - Jun 2014
I unloaded semi truck tires from containers into our warehouse. This was done by hand and by forklift. I would also sort the tires depending on their size, brand and country of origin. Bill of Ladings would also be processed and I would have the drivers sign and then I would file them. When we would get orders I would load the containers sent to us by hand and also using a forklift. Staging for the loads going out would be done days prior to a container coming to pick up the shipment. I unloaded semi truck tires from containers into our warehouse.
