During my time at Elite Sports New York, I met an incredible group of writers that taught me ways to write for online media. The CEO, Robby Sabo, does a great job of keeping everyone on track with rule changes or improving the writer’s general skills in reporting, SEO, and keywords. I covered the New York Islanders at Elite Sports New York. I earned an opportunity at The Hockey Writers, another independent sports writing website, thanks to my time at Elite Sports New York and also from William Paterson University’s student newspaper, The Beacon. My stories for ESNY are linked below.

    • Periodic front-end help on an on-call basis
      • Mar 2015 - Mar 2020

Over my time at Wilkes Deli, there were employee changes, ownership changes, and financial struggles. Working at the deli, I met some incredible people along the way that taught me much more than how to use a slicer. I worked as a front end manager since I carried the same responsibilities: inventory management, contributed ideas to grow the business, opened and closed when asked to and handled transactions as a cashier. Wilkes has taught me that you cannot satisfy everyone in life, but if you satisfy one out of every two and keep them happy, they can make you rich. After ownership changed in 2017 due to financial struggles, the new owners were happy to keep me and they completely turned it around and made Wilkes a household name again in the town of Glen Rock, New Jersey.

    • Receptionist
      • Oct 2013 - Mar 2020

As a receptionist at a church rectory, there isn’t much action, but I’ve learned a lot from it. Holding the position for now four and a half years has taught me responsibility, leadership, and improved my overall sense of what being in an office and dealing with the public can be like. Part of my duties is to keep the office supplies stocked, answer phones, sign out keys, give out Mass cards and more. While it might come off as easy work, and it is to a degree, it still requires the same amount of care and responsibility a major job in the workforce requires. I’ve trained others, helped around the office with bigger projects, and learned how far my commitment to one job can go. While it might come off as easy, St. Catharine’s is a big reason why I am who I am today.

    • Managing Editor
      • Nov 2015 - May 2019

When I joined I started as a Contributing Writer and worked my way up to Staff Writer. In the following semesters, editors graduated and I was promoted to Editor of the Entertainment section. I learned responsibilities of an editor and what to expect from newer writers that aren’t as experienced. The whole process made me realize that I love being in the editor’s chair where I can edit and help improve the content that is printed in the paper. When I was promoted to Managing Editor my responsibility increased to layout of all sections using Adobe InDesign. I helped edit the stories and also create the pages for the physical paper including but not limited to editing font sizes, spacing, and column layout. I am confident in my skills with Adobe InDesign. Being on the paper was a great experience in college and the knowledge I gained has made me confident for a job in the professional world.

  • Lifestyle Sports 101
    • Glen Rock, New Jersey
    • Contributing Writer
      • Nov 2017 - Apr 2018

When I joined, Lifestyle Sports 101 was a new website that originally expanded from a baseball Instagram page. The owner, Josh Shapiro, branched out to other sports and I was recruited as a hockey writer due to my time with The Beacon, as primarily a sports writer, and my time at Elite Sports NY, another independent website. At this role, I contributed ideas for the hockey writers to cover and I wrote unique features with different angles as well.
