I had the pleasure of working with John in a few different capacities at Hogan Lovells. The best work relationships are those where you can engage on a professional and a human level. John was known for his subject matter, his delivery, his collegiality and his leadership. No one is better informed on the information management demands of a top tier law firm and how to put in place pragmatic operational processes to meet those demands. John is widely respected from the general counsel, to line attorneys to all business services colleagues. Specifically, I observed John in his capacity as a trusted advisor to the general counsel, the firm CIO and other business services leads as we developed and rolled out an information governance framework to support the migration to a unified document management platform. It was no small task, and John navigated it flawlessly. I also observed John as he led the technology implementation of an electronic records inventory system, which he oversaw to a successful delivery with great skill. I also saw him navigate the challenges of being asked to do more through his function with fewer and fewer resources due to the economic uncertainty brought on by Covid. This highlighted his commitment, compassion and professionalism. Finally, and what left the biggest impression on me, was seeing John put himself forward as a leader and a sounding board to our firm and our team as we all tried to navigate the difficult social issues brought about in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. I will always be grateful to John for stepping up in that way and helping me gain perspective and understanding. I can't say enough good things about John as a professional and human being, and I hope to have the chance to work with him again in the future.

John is a Director with whom I engaged with regularly while at Hogan Lovells. He was always responsive and attentive to the issues that were escalated by me him for the paralegal department. Even when John connected one of his direct reports with handling a responsibility, he ensured to remain engaged in the task by checking in on the progress. John is well-versed in his Records’ management experience and is not shy about making recommendations to the best practices for prime results. It was a pleasure to know John was a leader I could count on when problems needed to be solved and new workflows needed to be prepared. That level of comfort only comes from having a profound understanding of the work you manage, and John has that!
