Currently working as a Graduate Flood Risk Consultant/Hydraulic Modeler as part of CAPITA Property & Infrastructure's Water and Environment Team. I carry out a range of duties including 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling and reporting for both public and private sector clients using a range of software and techniques including ISIS/Tuflow, Estry/Tuflow (fluvial, drainage and surface water), Infoworks ICM and GIS software MapInfo and ArcGIS. This requires understanding of industry standard approaches and methodologies for accurate and representative hydraulic models as well as reporting of findings with sound and thorough understanding of hydraulic model outputs.I have contributed to cost benefit analysis of potential flood protection schemes based upon assessment of flooded property counts comparing baseline existing conditions with proposed option outputs using industry standard techniques.Carried out hydrological modelling for input into hydraulic models based on Flood Estimation Handbook (FEH) techniques (including ReFH) and carrying out various checks and validations of inputs and outputs. In my role I have also undertaken flood risk assessments for a range of projects with understanding of relevant legislation and planning policies.Help meet the targets and goals of the Water and Environment team and wider Property & Infrastructure sector through inter-departmental and inter-office working. This requires strong team working ability, clear and effective communication skills and the ability to work to deadlines to produce deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.

7 months back-filling as part of the Operational Flood Risk Team of SEPA’s Flood Unit carrying out various duties under the Flood Risk Management Act (Scotland) 2009. This includes being consulted on and providing flood risk advice to various stakeholders and members of the public as well as performing post event analysis, review of flood risk assessments and supporting input to strategic flood risk developments including hazard and risk mapping. This requires sound knowledge and application of the Flood Estimation Handbook and industry standard hydrological and hydraulic modelling techniques, the use of other industry standard software packages including GIS, as well as excellent and consistent communication skills.
