Perhaps the most important thing a leader can do is surround themselves with the right people. John distinguished himself in several ways as we worked together, showing himself to be driven, thoughtful, and inquisitive. When our Business Intelligence team expanded to the point of needing a manager, John was a natural fit due to significant work he had done informally to assist our BI efforts. In his new role, he excelled in every way possible. Over the course of the 4 years I managed him, he built a formidable team, and led the transition of BI from a fledgling effort to a high-performing department that was constantly at the forefront of our challenges and initiatives. While doing that, John also established strong connections with his team and showed himself to be a conscientious leader who not only improved the quality of BI delivery, but grew the skills of his team as well. Looking back, I get a little anxious thinking how things might have gone had I not chosen John for this role. I count myself blessed to have worked alongside John, and would consider any organization equally blessed should they engage his talents.

John is a kind-hearted and true servant-driven leader. He is passionate about his profession and calling and it shows! He has an uncanny ability to be both silently present in a space and captivating/motivating when given a platform to speak. I am privileged to work within a leadership team that includes John and our team at large is better with his daily contributions.
