Setter
-
Jan 2013 - Apr 2015
Started off as a labourer to the truss builder (setter) in the truss department, preparing each job whilst the setter adjusts tables to the specifications to the truss design, as I lay out the timber for each job item, I watched and learned the Setter carry out each task to building trusses and then expressed a willingness to learn and progress, I was later made up to setter, taking on the responsibility of building the trusses to the various CE standards required by the customer as each truss hat to be right to the millimetre, I left this job to try out something new as I felt in this field there was nothing more to gain

working weekends whilst at college, I worked for Caledonian Food Produce under Jark Industries. Operating the Proseal sealing machine I was at the main part of the production line where aluminium trays were heat sealed before going into dispatch, between each product the sealing machine had to be cleaned and prepared for the next in quick time to meet demands of the company for M&S foods, there was potential to move up the ladder within the company but college was my priority at the time working weekends whilst at college, I worked for Caledonian Food Produce under Jark Industries. After the Army, I felt I had to get straight into work and earn my keep at my parents, I visited a number of companies within my area expressing the will to work and learn, E&R Moffat Catering Equipment LTD were the first to be in touch, I was put into what was called the polishing shop where I learned to use tools I had never used before such as a high cycled burr with polishing attachments, 9 and 12 inch angle grinders, using these tools I was taught to grind down welds, blend and polish items such as sink units, worktops, frames and fittings. there was a high demand for catering equipment at the time and there was a bonus system in place for production which was met on a regular basis
