I am the go-to person for applying scrum practices and events to help my teams to produce high-quality work. As a Scrum Master I help to manage timelines for the team, resolve problems and remove any impediments or ‘Blockages’. I coach my team members in many areas’ ranging from personal challenges to current Agile methodologies. My ultimate goal is to help create self-organizing teams that are flexible and fully productive during sprints who deliver on their promises. As a Professional Scrum Master, I am responsible for ensuring that each team member follows the framework of Scrum, making sure everyone knows their role and I help to coach them through any unclear parts while also guiding larger teams using this method effectively. I coordinate people and projects (occasionally facilitating changes) with my mind set on delivering on time and what the stakeholders expect. I help my teams to manage the stakeholder expectations. I work with the Product Owner to help manage the backlogs and any new requirements that may arise, and I help them to connect with the Scrum team and provide guidance on better cooperation. I have excellent communication and listening skills because I work with people and need to understand the needs of my team members. I am a capable subservient leader who always serves from the back. My teams are always put before myself so they can become the best they can possibly be. As a PSM qualified Scrum Master I have excellent knowledge of the scrum framework, with all its artifacts and techniques. I ensure the team have all the scrum events ready from sprint planning to retrospectives to daily stand ups. My main aim is to guide my teams to a higher scrum maturity, so they are self-sufficient and self-organising and they are working in a productive environment where they feel they ‘own’ the project and enjoy working on it. Working in the back-office team we the responsibility of maintaining and upgrading about 400 bespoke back-office programmes. These tools were an integral and critical part of the operational capacity and allow the Bet365 Traders to interact and administer with the main website. The work was always varied and learning to deal with rapid context switching was an integral part of my role as a software developer. As a software developer in the back-office team, I was heavily involved in understanding, diagnosing and implanting fixes for issues reported by our users and stakeholders. The role also involved adding new functionality to tools as and when they were needed, or the market dictated. All the programmes were written in either vb6, vb.net or c#, because of this varied and diverse spread of languages being used I needed to be flexible and understand these different technologies. In addition to the .net framework and technologies, our data was accessed using T-SQL. This is also an area where I feel I was strong and had a good knowledge because the team worked with and wrote Stored Procedures as well as being able to write queries to obtain any data and information that could help solve any issues that arose.
