    • English Language Teacher
      • Jan 2016 - Jan 2020

I headed the Department of Languages where I coordinated the activities of subjects including English Language, French Language, Hausa Language and Literature in English. I prepared plans and notes for lessons which I used to deliver in the classroom. I coordinated students at the Literary and Media Club where we also sought ways to build communication better by sharing views openly and on our notice board with articles, pictures, poetry pieces and all. I have organized in conjunction with a few other colleagues spelling bees, quizzes and debates which took place with students winning prizes and all. I was the secretary of the school's Parents Teacher Association. I occasionally counselled students who had emotional or psychological, and academic issues. The results were mostly positive as the students went ahead to become better in their academic and social lives. I also assisted students with editing on their writings - poetry, short stories, articles etc. I received an award in May 2018 as the best teacher of the month, the first recipient of the award. I have also been awarded as one of the most improved subject teachers of English Language. My department was at the forefront of many successes recorded by the school within and outside it especially in the areas of internal and external examinations, competitions etc. I jointly prepared students for the 2019 Chief of Naval Staff Debate/Quiz Competition held at Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria where we came first in the debate and overall winners of the competition. Two of our students also emerged as the best speakers of the debate. I prepared and led a group of five students for the first edition of the Anyigba Spelling Bee 2019 where our speller, Ogunleye Gbemisola, came first. Show less

I prepared lesson plans and notes which I used in my lesson delivery to my pupils. I coached and took some students to a Spelling Bee and we won. I used BBC podcasts to help my students improve their awareness of certain topics we learned in class. It was the first time they had been engaged in such a manner.
