Danielle Brumfitt
John was a passionate, dedicated and highly valued member of my External Affairs team. He brings a strength in consensus building that resulted in highly effective initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups. He was responsible for engaging external stakeholders with varied priorities from volunteers to donors to community partners. His work both maintained strong relationships and brought new partners into the organization. He is a highly capable of leading and managing details for projects and events, setting clear goals and benchmarks. In his tenure with HI USA he moved into a leadership position that required careful balancing of support and motivational leadership. He has a strong sense of the balance needed to drive his team to success. In dynamic environment, John is flexible and adaptable, consistently maintaining professionalism and creativity through change, which was constant in our organization. His tenure with our organization was only cut short due to COVID and difficult budget decisions, he is strongly missed!

I have worked with John for 5 years at HI USA. John has very strong leadership skills and has done amazing work expanding HI USA programming in the Bay Area. In my role as Director of Volunteer Services, I worked with John in one of his many roles as a volunteer coordinator. He has supported 150 volunteers serving approximately 5,000 volunteer hours. He has also helped support and expand our travel scholarship program and Great Hostel Give Back (GHGB) program (free hostel overnights in return for community service). By working directly with hostel managers he helped increase participation in GHGB at our Bay Area hostels exponentially over the 5 year period.
