Working with John is always an enlightening experience, he has a different way of looking at problems, providing challenging questions and angles to consider in a strategy or trying to determine a business solution. He is highly analytical and provides thought provoking insights in the work that he does. John is skilled at conducting market intelligence desktop research into macro and micro trends, competitors, market landscapes and more, whilst also taking the lead in client workshops to uncover internal insights as well as working alongside a researcher in conducting customer research via focus groups or one on one interviews. He is able to analyse the information and put together a comprehensive findings report, pulling out key insights to inform his strategies. John's strategies are practical and insightful, giving clear direction to the designers whilst also considering the key business objectives. It is a pleasure working with John, and he is always willing to discover new things and collaborate as a team, I hope to work with him again in the future.

Collaborating with John as a strategist has been a remarkably efficient and positive experience. Our synergy ensured a seamless alignment between his outlined strategy and the design process. John consistently supported and championed my conceptual ideas and design thinking with a robust and exceptional strategic foundation. Whether seeking insights on the latest trends or seeking advice to enhance project success, John readily provided assistance and valuable information. I wholeheartedly endorse John as an outstanding strategist.

As a research analyst on the Strategy team in Lucky Beard, my responsibility was to inform and direct the Strategy team’s work by delivering relevant insights through desktop research, customer interviews, internal client workshops, and strategic document review. I packaged findings of the aforementioned in a narrative manner that identified areas of weakness or strength in the client/market that the Strategy team could then address.Key Research Areas: Socioeconomic: Macro & Micro market trends, Societal sentiment & behavioural trendsUX: Usability, Customer acquisition, Customer experience, User needs analysisBrand: Competitor positioning, Execution Show less

I have been contracted to play on a professional bridge team in the United States for a number of North American Bridge Championships since March 2017. This has given me great experience of working in a high stress, high stakes environment, where both individual performance and the ability to work as a team are crucial. On many of these occasions I was tasked with ensuring my teammates and our clients (sponsors) were up to date and understood all our technical agreements for the event. I have worked as a bridge teacher since graduating secondary school, both as an employee and self-employed. I organised the schedule and content on a term by term basis, conducting classes in a friendly, yet informative manner. In my main class in the RSGYC, I took a core group from people who had never held cards, all the way to being intermediate players over a two year period, all while expanding the class as time went on. I started as a tournament director in bridge by being thrown into the deep end, learning the ropes as a solo director in the largest bridge club in Europe (200 players per night), and have since moved clubs a few times, as well as operating in a freelance manner. I learned a lot from my abrupt introduction into the job, as I had to be able to think quickly to solve the myriad of different problems that arise every night, all while keeping 200 people happy and the game thinking along. The main skills I have gained from directing would be dispute resolution/mediation, time management, problem solving (especially in time crunch situations), and public speaking. Show less
