I had the pleasure of working together with Johan for more than two years. His technical skills & knowledge base in Finance are deep & broad, an unusual combination. Johan has above average tech savvy and a keen interest in leveraging technology to streamline workflows & processes. But, in my opinion, Johan greatest strength is the so called "soft skills". Johan's personal style is collegial & professional, very team oriented. His ability to influence others, to keep discussions focused on the important issues, and to rapidly adjust effort & attention in a dynamic environment are a few examples of how Johan projects competence & confidence to others in the organization. He convinces others to follow his lead by data & logic, but people will listen to the data & logic arguments because of Johan's method of delivery. In this case I served as a fractional Controller, reporting to Johan who served as CFO. I joined the organization first & had hopes to be named fractional CFO for that organization. Johan was chosen for the CFO role, in part, due to his deeper experience in the Energy Industry. Despite my disappointment, I quickly determined Johan was the right resource for this particular job. And I am not the only one. After several months Johan became full-time CFO because the team recognized the value Johan’s unique blend of talent, expertise, and personality to the organization.
