I led multiple software releases for D-Flow, the software that integrates the advanced rehabilitation laboratories provided by Motek. These laboratories are class I medical devices. I gathered feedback from customers and internal stakeholders, and defined the scope for each release based on the feedback. I wrote clear and unambiguous requirements for the software development team. I managed these requirements in FogBugz and Team Foundation Server, the tools used by the software development team. For every release, I wrote a newsletter in MailChimp informing customers about new features and promoting upgrade offers. At Motek, I worked within an ISO13485:2016 quality management system. I performed overdue maintenance on IEC62304 compliance by writing requirements for D-Flow from the ground up, structuring the requirements from Business Requirements to User Requirements to Functional Requirements.I wrote the business case and led the OEM supplier selection process for an upcoming hardware product. I identified possible suppliers, met with all suppliers and presented the comparison to management. Based on my comparison, a supplier was selected and a partnership was negotiated and announced: https://www.hocoma.com/media-releases/hocoma-partners-frei/. Show less

    • Applied Research Engineer
      • Aug 2014 - Dec 2017

I provided research support to partners doing research on Motek systems. I created and adapted D-Flow applications to meet the needs of collaborating researchers. I travelled to customers for presentations and training. I created the D-Flow Application Toolbox, a Lua library which provides the building blocks for creating advanced applications quickly. I worked on the 2.0 version of the Human Body Model (HBM) software, within the EU MD-PAEDIGREE project. I collaborated with clinical experts from VUmc to ensure the new version met clinical requirements. I did extensive data analysis using Python scripts and D-Flow, the in-house programming by Motek. I co-authored a publication comparing the results of HBM with the golden standard in the market. I co-organized a webinar introducing the HBM 2.0 version to existing and new customers. The 2.0 version of HBM was successfully brought to market, and is still featured as strong point for Motek products on their website: https://www.motekmedical.com/software/hbm/. Show less

Besides my studies, I worked on making video gait analysis accessible to physical therapists. We won the HU Ureka Mega Challenge, an innovation challenge with a main prize of €20.000. We then did a feasibility study to analyze our chance of success in the physical therapy market. We concluded that despite the clinical added value, commercially a different business model would be needed.
