At the Soil and Water Management & Crop Nutrition Laboratory of the Joint FAO/IAEA Division of Nuclear Techniques in Food and Agriculture, I worked on the development and application of stable isotope techniques (mainly carbon and nitrogen) for elucidating soil organic matter dynamics, carbon sequestration, greenhouse gas emissions and sediment tracing. For this quantification, I developed sensor-based and statistical methods to continuously monitor transport of sediment, C and N in irrigation channels and natural streams, as well as bootstrap-based methods suitable for time series in order to assess uncertainty on the resulting annual sediment and nutrient loads.
