I have completed an internal audit of the Health Centre and we have started to implement changes to improve the standard of care and record keeping. I have been able to have conversations with an Independent School Inspector to ensure that these changes are meeting, if not exceeding the minimum standards required. I work closely with the Mental Health lead in the school & Head of Pastoral Care & Safeguarding. Together we have implemented a new school-wide care plan for students who have medical, mental health or safeguarding concerns. This has made the care for these students more cohesive as all the relevant parties within the school are now communicating and have the same, complete view.. I have been able to begin the integration of the nurses into the PSHE curriculum, where they are now able to support and deliver relevant lessons. I have been involved in the running of the school Lateral Flow Testing program, where we have tested all our boarders regularly, staff who were working on site and then progressed to all staff and all students. I participated on the Catering Committee, where the senior boys were encouraged to raise their ideas about the school meals. I was also involved in encouraging them to eat a balanced diet. My colleague and I re-wrote all the school’s medical policies and procedures. As well as helping to provide the school with a new health centre, that is now available 24 hours a day. I was involved in school INSET days, ensuring that staff were trained to deal with emergencies. I delivered parts of the PSHE curriculum to different classes in the school, such as hand washing and personal hygiene. I worked closely with the school matrons to ensure continuity of both medical and emotional care. I was responsible for our off duty and ensuring that there was adequate cover for events. Show less
