Experience

    • Laboratory Coordinator
      • Jan 2023 - Present

I joined the metabolomics laboratory of FIMM in January 2023. The laboratory is a core unit providing metabolomics, fluxomics and lipidomics services to academic and commercial customers. In addition to hands on laboratory work I am involved in streamlining the sample and data handling processes in the laboratory. We run orbitrap, Q-trap and triple-Q LC-MS instruments of several vendors. I joined the metabolomics laboratory of FIMM in January 2023. My journey at Thermo started in 2005 as an R&D scientist working with the automated photometric analyzers: Gallery, Indiko, Beermaster, Konelab. These have applications in the clinical lab as well as in beverage- and environmental analysis. From the beginning of 2013 I stepwise transitioned to a project that aimed at introducing a new LC/MS based analyzer to clinical microbiology laboratories. In this project our multidisciplinary team worked through huge challenges and created a totally new fully automated workflow for microbial identification. On the brink of releasing the product in August 2021, the corporation announced the customer needs had changed and decided to terminate the product. In this project I worked in the overall system design and system level troubleshooting, SPE-LC hardware, software and method development and LC-MS interface development. Between September 2021 and November 2022 I worked in the R&D of Cascadion SM Clinical Analyzer. I was positioned as senior scientist in the assay verification & validation team. During this time I had the possibility to learn the secrets of another fully integrated LC/MS based clinical analyzer. Unfortunately also this product was terminated by the corporation. Show less
