Through my internship, I have developed several skills such as time management, problem-solving, classroom management, communication, lesson planning, project planning, event management, interpersonal skills, team player. I have developed time management when I had to plan, implement and execute lessons plan that is based on the children’s curriculum and learning goals. Since, children have different needs, abilities and development milestone, I would carry out observation on teachers, children and the environment to help me better understand how I can plan lesson or activities that would help enhance the children’s learning. It was beneficial as I could observe and learnt about effective classroom management skills to help children to be engaged in the lesson and be a problem-solver to be flexible to the changes of the children. At the same time, it has allowed me to gain knowledge and skills on children’s development when I created an E-child portfolio, through observations, documentations and analysing of children’s behaviours. Thus, I was tasked to be responsible for crafting teaching aids for lessons and setting up of learning corners so to cater to the different needs of the children to help them advance to the next level. To support parental involvement, I plan and executed a field trip to Singapore Zoo and created take-home kits. This is to allow parents and their children to spend quality. Being an intern, I learnt that being a team player is important as teachers have to work together in the classroom such as taking turns to assist children in their routines and transitions. I would often communicate with my teacher and be initiative to assist them when they require help such as preparation of lesson materials or manage the children in their routines. Therefore, I have gained interpersonal skills to communicate with my colleagues and to offer assistant when there is a need. Show less
