The Media Services team enables the delivery and playout of media (VOD, AOD, distribution & rights) in each the BBC’s online products, including News, Sport and iPlayer and iPlayer Radio, handling up to 1,489,480,428 simultaneous play requests.I am responsible for defining and adapting the framework we use to ensure that we are doing the right stuff at the right time, and we know how long it takes us. Embracing the principles of clarity, simplicity, flexibility and predictability. Reporting on senior and executive level. Alignment with what we deliver to wider BBC and D&E strategy. I manage the direct spend budget of £3-5M and report how we deliver comparative value. I line manage, coach and mentor project managers and manage the regular ceremonies we have to ensure we stay on track.During my time in this role we have transformed the way we work to make it clear who is working on what, what our priorities are, and have increased our predictability significantly. I have spoken at numerous national and international conferences about the journey we have been on and received overwhelming positive feedback from industry leaders in agile software development. Alongside my role above, I am the Agile Practice Lead for London and work with the BBC PMO (and other practice leads) to build and promote a community of practice for project management. I have contributed to the Competency Framework and Learning and Development initiatives.
