I have loved working with Joe. He has an ability to take a large and complicated problem and direct the team into focusing on the parts that really matter the most. As a software engineer, I've always felt very productive with Joe as the product owner, knowing that we are working on the right things at the right time. He is also a fantastic facilitator, making sure everyone on the team is having a positive input, and is very easy to get along with.

I’ve worked with Joe for 12 months when we were together in the GP website team at Livi. Joe is one of the finest Product Managers I’ve worked alongside. His understanding of getting to grips with what problem we are trying to solve really helped me sell our solution into the NHS. His eye for detail and understanding the impact good design can have on digital care for staff and patients is second to none. Not just happy with managing the product Joe is keen to talk to all stakeholders to get a view of where the product should be in 6-12 months time, helping the team along the way with his time management skills. Any organisation would be lucky to have Joe’s skill set and knowledge around product management and digital services.

I led a short discovery to refocus on creating a more commercially successful product and got the team aligned with a new product roadmap based on our findings. I established a vision and mission for the team, and clear product success metrics. I worked with the team to set quarterly OKRs to measure our progress. We shipped a number of new features and I worked with Commercial to engage with practices on adoption of those features. I worked closely with Marketing, setting up Product Marketing experiments to increase sales. We won a regional deal, demonstrating that our product can be sold at scale. With the product team, I presented at our weekly UK R&D show & tell sessions, helping to build a culture of sharing work in progress to get early feedback from a broad audience. I co-organised a physical meet-up day for the remote team, including a product vision session described by one team member as “the best session I’ve had with a team in the last decade”. More recently I have taken on a broader remit for the UK market: * Presenting to the Product Managers on the UK market * Hosting sessions with Product and UK Operations to clarify the complexity of the UK setup * Leading conversations to understand strategy and product priorities for the UK I led discovery work to find out how Practice websites products could be extended to support other Kry Livi services in the UK, and how the products could support partnership opportunities in other markets. I also engaged more with the wider Product community; setting up a new book club to encourage learning and sharing of expertise among the Product Managers.

I navigated a complex political environment of stakeholders with differing incentives, and organisations with different cultures, to build a new multidisciplinary team. I led a tactical user-centred design approach to the acquired products, to deliver quick improvements to UX. This improved the quality of the products, so we could increase contract retention. I formed a more strategic product vision to extend the products and integrate them with other Kry Livi services. I led the technical discovery for a cloud-hosting solution and migration process, and set up a roadmap across multiple teams for its delivery. As we hired new Product Managers I brought them up to speed on these products, and then handed over responsibility for them as I took a new role.

I rationalised and restructured the product backlog to give greater visibility of features shipped and upcoming opportunities. I helped the team to identify changes in user behaviour that may lead to improvements in KPIs, and features that may lead to those changes in user behaviour. I represented these hypotheses visually as logic models. I worked with the client product owner to deliver a public-facing outcomes-based roadmap. This evolved to a full electronic work tracking system to provide real-time progress updates on-demand * Performed root cause analysis of defects to identify causes of waste, and eliminate them * Built relationships with colleagues from other functional areas in order to agree solutions that would benefit the whole system, not just one area.
