This is a family run business, my role mostly involved the handling, feeding, and preservation of specimens. Being family based meant separating work and personal life. This in turn helped with being part of a team, as well as being individual on certain tasks. Efficiency as well as maintaining a high standard was a main focus; this enabled me to develop the skill of working at a professional standard within a set deadline/time scale. • Self Employed Window Cleaner
      • Apr 2011 - Apr 2014

I was able to gain an opportunity to work within a close knit team which gave me an insight into how individuals work within self employment. This then lead to me become self employed in this area of work and I did this for two of the three years. Having this background in window cleaning helped improve skills such as; accounting, time management, punctuality, the handling of equipment within the different environments, and communication and approachability with clients. I worked here whilst also working part time as a window cleaner. The reason behind the short employment was due to the cost of transport being greater than my pay which was down to the unavailability of hours. However I gained experience with working within a team and also individually to complete tasks that were set to a high standard. I also developed my skills and knowledge of customer service and retail management. I worked here whilst also working part time as a window cleaner. I was able to work alongside carpenters which gave me first hand experience with both the craft of carpentry and the business element. I worked in a hands on environment and was able to gain experience working with power tools and machinery. I was also introduced to the skills and style of work within the carpentry profession.
