Joel is an incredibly hard working team member who was always enthusiastic about every project. The project we mainly focused on together was based on the global automotive industry and it was clear he was very passionate about the subject. It was enjoyable working within a group with someone who is always striving to achieve the best possible outcome and who is happy to do more than his allocated workload.

We specialise in creating natural conversation with niche, hard to find audiences. Automotive is our passion, but understanding the plethora of drivers to customer loyalty is our bread and butter. Want to know how your target audience will react to a new concept? Need to develop or test a communications strategy? Bored of lethargic, expensive agencies? I was extremely fortunate to be offered a graduate role with an international law firm, which turned out to be my most varied role to date. I was trained for technical projects like SQL server installations, given the opportunity to lead an annual contract tender process, and made single-handedly responsible for coordinating the UAT (user acceptance testing) phase of a £250,000 software upgrade. Above all else, Ogier taught me how productive a cohesive team can be when they have their manager's implicit trust, which made it a genuine pleasure to come to work each day.

I was working with an enthusiastic team who deliver usable insight to a range of premium automotive brands. I helped coordinate a bespoke global mystery shopping programme for Rolls-Royce, constructed discussion guides for Aston Martin customer feedback clinics, and assisted in the redevelopment of various marketing strategies. Working for a research agency gave me the opportunity to better understand exactly what contributes to the competitive advantage of each brand we worked with. Aside from that, finding a practical application for the academic theory I've learned at university was an extremely rewarding experience.

This was an Industrial placement, covering everything from product launches, digital strategy development and event organisation, to brand health management and monthly market reporting. It was an exciting step towards a career in the automotive industry, and I learned a great deal from the marketing team there. Having three adverts published in national automotive magazines was the pinnacle of this experience for me. I spent four hours each evening here, alongside second year studies. It was a tough way to earn my keep, but also a valuable lesson in resilience and conversational confidence. As it was fundraising for charities, I felt good about what I was selling, but asking for financial support without offering anything tangible in return required an interesting adaptation of sales tactics. Natural sounding conversation was crucial, so a lot of practice was required to blend this into repeatedly asking each person for money. Calls were closely monitored and regularly reviewed, so continual and progressive improvement was expected.

From the age of 16, at weekends and during school holidays I was frequently trusted by the owner to man the shop alone whilst he was out on other business. The rewarding elements to this position were the confidence the owner’s trust gave me and implementing small changes that resulted in notable sales increases. This employer, in particular, taught me a practical range of customer relationship skills that I will carry with me throughout my career. There are more than 600 miles of road within the island of Jersey. With a typical evening consisting of 15+ deliveries per driver, route planning and time management were crucial to success with this role. My time at Jaipur was alongside two other part time jobs whilst studying for my A Levels. This enabled me to contribute financially at home, which I had previously struggled to do.
