      I am currently the senior hydrogeologist for Iluka’s Australian Operations, responsible for providing advice and support on hydrogeological issues to both operating mines, and to several project teams, whose goal is to develop new mining prospects. My key accountabilities in my current mining role include: Provide day-to-day advice on groundwater recovery and treatment systems, including whether targets are being reached or triggers are at risk of being breached. Design cost-effective and targeted groundwater monitoring programs. Prepare and/or review annual hydrological reports for operations Provide technical expertise and advice on water related issues. Operate or supervise the operation of groundwater and water balance models to predict water requirements and potential environmental impacts. Supervise, where appropriate, drilling and pump testing activities conducted on behalf of Iluka Resources. Plan and audit, where appropriate, the development and implementation of groundwater monitoring networks and systems. Scope and supervise related projects. Directly review hydrogeological data for the purposes of advising management and completing statutory reporting. Provide basic water chemistry-related advice, where appropriate. Provide specific technical support to mines requiring dewatering of hypersaline aquifers. This includes supervising drilling contractors, construction of production bores, infiltration basin and wellfield management and monitoring of dewatering efficiencies.       Prior to joining Iluka in December 2011, I consulted for nine years for natural resources management, mining and oil and gas clients with Aquaterra, before the merger with RPS. Clients included resources companies, state water management authorities, state government and private sector clients. For the NRM sector, I have helped develop and refine numerous regional scale multi-layer numerical models throughout the Murray Basin Riverland for irrigation and salt interception schemes to assess salt loads to the River Murray. I have also frequently assisted both State and Federal Agencies with their cost sharing protocols (BSMS Accountability) for Murray-Darling salt management. For the resources sector, I have worked on models for the complex Beverley Uranium solution mine, several Pilbara iron ore projects, several water supply and disposal wellfield models for oil and gas projects in Oman, and designed and worked on several Hunter Valley (NSW) coal model projects to assist clients with their project approvals and ongoing operarions. I previously held a Team Leader role at the RPS-Aquaterra Adelaide office, and was also the Quality Assurance and HSE representative. Show less
