After my experiences in the TET project 2012 I decided to stay on in Thailand finding work at another school in the south of the country. Here I was responsible for planning and delivering daily English lessons to children aged 5-14. This required me to perform a lot of singing, game playing, roleplaying, phonetic drilling, and general bantering with the students in order to keep them entertained and actively learning.I also represented the school at local educational seminars, where I would socialise with local headmasters and discuss how best to teach certain topics in the English language.

I worked on the 2013 Teach English in Thailand (TET) Program as part of a British Council team helping the Thai Ministry of Education to coordinate a group of 200 English students on summer placements teaching English across Thailand. My main duties were liaising with said students, travelling around the country as a troubleshooter offering advice from my own experience, and reporting problems up the hierarchy as they arose. A big part of my job was showing students without any experience of rural (often very rural!) Thailand how to have fun with the locals, which could be intimidating at first.

I was a versatile member of staff in a busy supermarket; working first for the produce department helping to keep a fresh display and tidy warehouse, whilst providing cover for the checkouts. Later I would serve on the customer service counter and finally I moved outside to take charge of the trolleys - enjoyable work that paid for my world travels.
