1. Provide technical support for the Flow Cytometry Service 2. Ensure maintenance of flow cytometers and the cell sorter, ensuring instruments are regularly serviced, correctly calibrated and performing at their maximum and optimal capacity. 3. Analyse samples for laboratories at the Barts CR-UK Centre/WHRI as part of a service to both. 4. Assist other users of the Flow cytometry Core Facility in sorting samples in and in the analysis of the data. 5. Contribute to the implementation of new analytical methods based on flow cytometry and related techniques by performing experiments. 6. Be responsible for the provision of regular progress reports. 7. Collect data and undertake any appropriate analysis of data as requested. 8. Maintain appropriate databases, keeping accurate written and computerised records and to ensure that these records are stored in a secure place, and to maintain confidentiality of all electronically stored personal data in line with the provisions of the Data Protection Act. 9. Contribute to research writing. 10. Contribute to maintaining laboratory safety and ensure all team members are fully aware of and comply with College and Trust policies and procedures in relation to confidentiality, health and safety at work, COSHH regulations and infection control. 11. To aid with recommending future equipment requirements and evaluating new equipment for purchase.
