I work with Application Engineers, starting from initial trialing, working through product costing and seeing the product all the way through handoff to production with necessary supporting documentation. As part of my project work, I identified severe safety concerns with numerous high speed machines. Put together: scope, budget and timeline for each machine to upgrade them with perimeter guards that are electrically interlocked. I managed all the projects from concept design all the way through installation on each machine. I also started a program to track daily metrics out on the production floor. Every day we meet to discuss the previous days numbers (non-conformances, parts per hour, etc.) and discuss ways to improve anything in the process. Actions were then assigned to the support group and followed up on until they were completed and communicated back to the operations group. Another major project I am currently working on is machine reliability. I broke this down into 2 major areas to improve upon. The first, which had immediate impact, was to establish a preventative maintenance schedule for each asset. I worked with maintenance and wrote every procedure (with pictures attached) for each machine in our MaintainX software. The second phase is to evaluate each major asset for critical spare parts, put together proposals for each and present them to management. In addition to this, I started a program utilizing our parts crib to inventory what we currently have in house. This prevents redundant work for engineering and maintenance (identifying, specifying, quoting, etc.) and utilizes our MRP system for automatic reordering when we drop below our minimum values.
