Toledo, Ohio Area Starting in August 2018 I began working as a Reliability Engineering Co-Op that involved developing an element of a reliability system. I developed a way for the department to track their work as well as coordinated meetings where the items that they were tracking could be prioritized so that work would be completed in a timely manner. The development of the element taught me valuable lessons in leadership and communication. Ones that I believe will be vita in my career moving forward. During this semester I also got the opportunity to develop a tool to run heater creep assessments on heater tubes. In doing this I dove deep into API 579 Part 10 where I began to develop a better understanding how to apply these standards for routine maintenance items

During this time I also familiarized myself with different industry standards and why they are set as they are.

While working there I also extensively used Auto CADD, Inventor, and SolidWorks helped me develop my skills making me more proficient and accurate while using these programs. Working at Sponseller also fed my interest in materials and testing. While using the SolidWorks FEA (Finite Element Analysis) I found it fascinating how different materials reacted to different situations and stresses. I have always been interested in how materials act and seeing this at work in an engineering setting just made me even more interested. On top of materials and how they act, I also began to see the inner workings of many different types of machines. I believe that this experience of the design process will better help me in the future as I begin to look at tangible machines and their parts. Show less
