I had the pleasure of working and knowing Joe while working together at Cerner. Like many young folks in their careers, I had several (unknowing to me) knowledge gaps that I had to work through to be as effective as I wanted. Joe was awesome in helping me address these technical opportunities. Joe probably didn't benefit much from explaining to me how a HAVING clause should be used in comparison to WHERE clauses in SQL, or many other examples while learning Python, but nevertheless he coached, provided feedback, and ultimately, I'm more skilled today because of it. Joe is a wonderful person to have on your team, in your community, and in your network.

Joe has been an invaluable technical contact for me at eWeather Risk. As a data scientist, Joe was able to inherit and understand a mountain of legacy code and work with me (their contractor) to massage it enough to be stable. Once the existing system had been stabilized, we worked closely together to design a more modern and durable system. Throughout the process, he has been hands-on with the architecture and implementation of internal and external REST apis and front-end clients. He has contributed greatly to the development of their python APIs, ruby clients, back-end statistical algorithms, and the end result is a very elegant, reliable, fast system that will last.

My work on the business intelligence team has focused on automating the mathematical and statistical pieces of the ordering process, including future supply and demand calculations. In addition, I use data science techniques to discover and solve important opportunities throughout the business.
