As a plumbing foreman with Garick Group I assisted and over looked many different tasks, shut downs, and turn key projects. Many of these jobs were very challenging with very small time frames. My most notable projects was the full remodel of the Blue Flame Building, which is a 19 story high rise located in the center of downtown. This work consisted of 120 multi family units for the Housing Authority of El Paso and some commercial office spaces on the upper floors. Another project completed under my supervision, was Phases 1-4 for Coronado High School located in the west side of El Paso. This work consisted of all the underground utilities, field house from the ground up, 3 story Building A from the ground up, chillers, boilers, and a full blown mechanical room. Lastly a full tenant improvement of the 3rd floor for The Hospitals of Providence. This work included many shut downs at all hours for 34 new patient rooms, NICU, LDR , Well Baby, and C-Section operating rooms to name a few. Large construction in a fully active hospital was very challenging. Planning and coordination had to be on point with many precautions. While working on this project, I was able to travel to Austin, test, and obtain my Master Medical Gas License in August 2021. Show less

I was in charge of completing all the remaining underground plumbing inside of William Beaumont Army Medical Center Hospital, East Clinic, and West Clinic. From there I jumped to the installation of all the underground hydronic piping , steam piping, and domestic water piping from the Central Utility Plant to the clinics and administrative building. Lastly I overlooked a 30-40 man crew in completing all the in-wall plumbing, overhead plumbing and hydronic piping of the hospital on levels 2 & 7. I worked closely with Clark/McCarthy who was the GC and daily inspections with the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Show less

At the age of 22, I started a small commercial plumbing business with the help of my parents Jose Chavez Sr and Hortencia Chavez, who owned JC General Contractors Inc at the time and would sub contract their projects to me. My knowledge and interest in the plumbing trade started, when they also owned JC Plumbing & Irrigation Suppliers. There I did counter sales from 2002-2005, but to me learning the codes and the proper installation of all the materials I once sold was the bigger challenge. From there I proceeded to get my journeyman license in early 2006 and my Master license a year later in 2007. In these years I did a lot of restaurants, shopping centers, multi family apartment complexes, medical buildings, small school additions, convenience stores, utilities in Ft Bliss, and utilities for El Paso Water. I did all my own estimating and grew to 18 plumbers from 2009-2011. Show less
