I was on an 8 hour contract at the Newt as a kitchen porter. I worked every Sunday from 7am -3:30pm. I had a lot of responsibilities including washing up, helping with food preparation for either lunch or breakfast. Additionally, I was tasked with cleaning the whole kitchen area and also organising the whole kitchen food area and making sure it is hygienic for the chefs within the kitchen. In July 2023, I completed a 3 day work experience where I went around all the different departments and learned how they operated. I gained much experience and vital skills. These departments included Marketing, Human resources, Tech Support, IoT and Billing. It was an amazing experience and I will use the skills and knowledge I learnt in future career opportunities. Voluntary Community Service I worked at Sexey’s hospital every friday as part of a community service scheme at King’s Bruton. We did a range of gardening activities and I did it with 3 other people. I had to do lots of work within the hour and I learnt a lot of new skills along the way. We did a variety of things such as fitting a gazebo, cutting hedges, planting bulbs and having an organised structure to the way I work. From this, I learnt a variety of skills and was taught many things I could use in later life. Show less
