The transformation programme brings several functions together into a single team managing safety, capacity and efficiency holistically. Core Responsibilities: Delivery of expert classroom learning in Aerodrome Design (ICAO Annex 14), Safety Management Systems (ICAO Annex 19), Runway Safety, Wildlife Hazard Management, Aerodrome Inspections, Airside Works, Aviation Meteorology and Adverse Weather, Surface Friction Testing and Global Reporting Format, Aerodrome Safeguarding and Obstacle Limitation Surfaces, Emergency Response and Crisis Management, Incident and occurrence Investigation and Ground Service Provider audits. Delivery of practical ‘on the job’ training delivery, coaching and oversight in Airside Driving, Runway Inspections, Wildlife control, Incident management and Operational recovery, Aircraft marshalling, Ramp/Apron Safety, Aircraft ‘Follow Me’ service and Vehicle leader escorts. Using information such as historic data, near miss reporting and incidents elsewhere to prevent safety occurrences through education, proactive safety improvement campaigns and the promotion of best practice.

Provision of 24 hour coverage, in line with operational demand to maintain a safe, compliant and efficient operating environment for aircraft and personnel. • Inspection and patrol of the manoeuvring area, apron area and road network and reporting and monitoring of faults in order to maintain compliance with CAA licencing requirements and HAL’s inspection regime. • Managing the closure or restriction of taxiways and runways as necessary and liaison with ATC. • Acting as 1st line of response for safety and compliance with regulations, safety instructions and bye-laws, ensuring that incident and accident event logging is completed and escalated. • Marshalling aircraft to parking positions and within the airfield • Minimising the bird risk to aircraft by detecting, identifying and dispersing birds with the use of specialist equipment and firearm and recording bird hazard management data including the reporting of bird strikes. • Supervising contractors and managing work area set-up and hand-backs in liaison with ATC. • Maintaining compliance with CAA licensing regulations through HAL’s inspection regime • Issuing notices and enforcements to airfield users (AONs, AINS, and others) • Providing a leader service to aircraft, emergency services, and contractors • Ensuring compliance of ramp operations through inspections, audits and patrols. • While in in low visibility procedures and other adverse weather conditions, carrying out specialist duties within the airfield and safeguarded areas to ensure operational safety is maintained. • Assisting with the training and mentoring of ASD personnel. • Carrying out snow and ice clearance, through use of specialised vehicles and supervision of snow clearance teams. • Managing accidents and incidents within the apron roads to ensure a safe and efficient flow of airside traffic.
