      This program included didactic instruction and clinical training components that was completed over the course of six months. I obtained the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to practice in a high acuity, fast-paced environment. The fellowship allowed the opportunity to develop the knowledge base to provide patient care for acute illnesses and injuries in an outpatient pediatric urgent care setting. During the training process, I was able to identify and treat a variety of acute illnesses and injuries, including, but not limited to, pharyngitis, asthma, croup, pneumonia, UTI, cellulitis, gastroenteritis and dehydration, orthopedic trauma, and head injury. I became proficient in procedural skills such as suturing techniques and wound repair, wound care, abscess incision and drainage, splinting, and foreign body removal.
