I led an academic research project examining the unique neuroanatomy of the lateral pallium in Muraenidae (moray eels). I gained a variety of technical skills (i.e. Dissection, sample collection, histology, staining, etc.) and strong understanding and experience with the research process. As a Richter Center (RCSL) Ambassador, I encouraged Fresno State students to engage with our surrounding community through service. As part of this focus, I was selected as a Campus Compact Community Engagement Student Fellow (CCCESF). This fellowship allowed me to serve as a Co-Director for the inaugural statewide LIFT (Leadership, Innovation, Fellowship, Transformation) Conference, designed for students from organizations like RCSL to network and share successful methods of engagement. - I supervised 5 sub-committees and led regular meetings to foster communication, resolve conflicts, and solve problems collaboratively. - In total, 80 students were in attendance from 5 California universities. - Innovations in community engagement were shared via 9 student workshops. - Donations from 4 community partners were solicited to support community engagement training.
