  Sports analytics research assistant in a published paper. In the paper we analyzed the procedures used by FIFA to rank the national teams and define the groups for the FIFA World Cup. We propose a reference ranking obtained by a simulation between the classified teams for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and then we develop a mixed integer model to balance the difficulty levels in each group.My role in the research was to program the proposals for rank the national teams, and then analyze statistically the differences between the reference ranking we proposed and the rankings obtained with the proposals and so the FIFA ranking. Then I measured the yield of each ranking, analyzing the results of the matches in the 2014 FIFA World Cup considering the ranking of each team in every match. Show less
