João da Cunha Paredes is an award-winning architect with more than 35 years of experience, specializing in the fields of religious architecture and rehabilitation of religious buildings, heritage buildings and buildings in classified areas. • In the field of religious architecture, his practice reveals a clear intention to sculpt modern spaces that not only elevate the soul and foster the intimacy with the divine, through form, light and sound, but that also embrace the history and culture of the places, urban or rural. His purpose is to build harmonious and functional cult buildings that merge perfectly with local architecture, bringing life and a sense of belonging to its communities, by providing spaces where people feel welcome to gather and develop cultural, educational and recreational activities. • In the field of building rehabilitation, his focus is on reinstating the splendour of the original artistic concept through an accurate reproduction, and, when required by the client, the harmonious incorporation of modern features that are necessary to meet current construction legislation.
