Jo-Anne is an incredible leader in the role of Executive Director - she is high energy, positive and has been the catalyst to the increased visibility of the centre in the community. She has taken many actions to revitalize our donations and is actively planning how she can do more to enable long term sustainability. Her business and marketing background has been extremely beneficial as she has a keen sense of which communication vehicle and approach will work best, highlighting events via Social Media, developing Newsletters that are both professional and articulate yet emotionally impactful, etc. With plans for more, she has embraced the financial aspects of the centre including a need for fundraisers, steadfastly providing updates and ‘cheering’ the staff on. She continues to evolve her approach as she develops along with the needs of the SRC. Jo-Anne is resilient and uses her terrific relationship building skills to engage key stakeholders and community partners for the betterment of Sophia - we are fortunate to have her. She has taken the initiative to document processes and map out programs to ensure that future leaders of Sophia will have an amazing foundation & legacy of rich experiences and input from which to build from.

Joanne has been an outstanding asset to Sophia Recovery Centre since joining the organization as the executive director in 2017. She has demonstrated empathy and caring for those women who look to Sophia for support and practical help as they seek a new life in recovery, while simultaneously leading an outstanding team in their work. She combines business acumen, organizational skills, commitment and the collaborative approach so needed in this work. As past board chair I would like to thank Jo-Anne for operationalizing the strategic vision set out by the board and state my confidence in the important role Sophia Recovery Centre plays in transforming the lives of people and communities.
