During Joanna's time here at Tom Dixon studio, she has proved many times of her invaluable contributions and diligence in both the graphic design and product design team. Her design breadth and admirable initiative is exemplified when she led the branding project for our subsidiary project, The Factory. She was the lead designer, and worked with multiple partners in terms of paper sourcing and production to ensure a highly polished set of branding. Thanks to her multidisciplinary talent and creative promise, I would strongly recommend for any professional and design engagements that she's pursuing.

Joanna has been a terrific asset to Echo during her internship. Eloquent and efficient, she added value to client facing projects from day 1. Her work supported a range of brands from an established multinational to a young, progressive charity. Together we worked on an exploration into emerging codes of ‘naturalness’ where she demonstrated her strength in design analysis and brand strategy. Joanna also supported the design team showing her natural talent for graphic design. I can highly recommend Joanna to any employer and am excited to see where she chooses to take her career. She is a flexible, adaptive colleague who thinks on her feet and is always ready to rise to a challenge. Her cool, calm demeanour make her a valuable addition to a fast paced team.

Echo has allowed me to gain experience in all three of their teams; graphics, 3D design and strategy. Through my internship I have become accustomed to frequently presenting my ideas and work to a large group. This has broadened my confidence and understanding in different styles of meetings from brainstorming to pitching to clients. I have enjoyed spending time in a fast paced creative agency and working with highly established brands. I joined the marketing team at Bupa Cromwell Hospital as a junior graphic designer. The experience was an insight into corporate design and how a designer is able to work within the parameters of a specialist and focused organisation. My work predominantly focused on article design and layout for Bupa's seasonal magazine, Health etc. I also created templates and concepts for the hospital's calendar as well as mocking up adverts to go in public spaces. My Indesign and typographic skills were particularly enhanced during my time in the office. Further work has been offered.

My responsibilities included designing textiles for coat lining, a website landing image and the format for social media posts. My role was varied and covered all aspects of the company’s design. I worked strictly to deadlines, using initiative whilst also bringing my manager’s vision to life. The job required me to be a fast worker and reliable communicator. My responsibilities included designing textiles for coat lining, a website landing image and the format for social media posts. During my three months at this creative agency I developed my Adobe skills (Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign). Tasks included helping form brands, creating adverts and designing wall/window murals. Alongside this I attended site visits, both as part of a team and independently. I also became very involved with the interior design team, where I edited and re-touched photographs for the website and sourced imagery for mood-boards. The experience gave me a good understanding of the workings of a creative agency and the processes required to create a brand. My software skills were greatly enhanced and I am now able to apply them to a professional standard.
