Lab-based Final Year Project
-
Sep 2019 - Dec 2019
Achieved a mark of 76 in the experimental report titled ‘The role of copper resistance gene CopL in metal homeostasis in Staphylococcus aureus’. This project involved using techniques such as growth assays, cloning and SDS-PAGE. It looked to show if CopL was copper specific, as seen in current literature, or if it was involved in the regulation of other environmental stresses such as metals, osmotic stress and aeration. This project also involved an attempt to create a CopL deletion mutant; however this was unsuccessful.Other marks achieved in dissertation modules: 84 in project performance, 94 for laboratory notebook and 60 in the presentation.
