There are few people who match Joanna's energy and ability to motivate people to give their all to a goal or vision for the future. I worked with Joanna for nearly two years at Originate and did some of my best work under her leadership of the New York office. We worked together directly on projects, where she was the partnership manager and I was the product lead. Joanna's energy, vision, and ability to connect the dots between technology goals and people made her an asset on any project. I saw her artfully balance running the New York office, energizing staff across multiple projects in the Northeast, advising and directing leadership at the global level, and also advising C-levels and VPs at Fortune 500 companies and startups alike on digital transformation. Joanna was also equally responsive to the needs of clients and staff, fighting for more resources when her team needed them, mediating conflicts on projects, and finding ways to celebrate and show appreciation for work well done. I also saw Joanna as a mentor and an advocate for the product and design practice at Originate. She has an incredible knack for seeing people's strengths and pushing them in the right ways so that they see them too. She worked to promote and place hardworking staff in product and design at more strategic positions, trusting and seeing our capabilities even when they could not see them. I remember many times where I felt I was over my head but would walk away confident and ready to tackle the challenge after talking it over with Joanna. Joanna was my manager at BrightLine, and someone I consider a mentor to this day. She was instrumental in empowering our young team, developing repeatable process, and stretching the bounds of our creativity.
