My association with Joanna is through the Leadership Onkaparinga 2014 (LO 2014) programme as a participant. I first met Joanna late in 2013 during an interview to become a participant of the programme. I found Joanna to be very personable with a captivating presence. I have since come to realise through the programme that Joanna is a remarkable consultant with a vast array of knowledge. Her facilitation skills are well developed and her organisational abilities would be second to very few. The development of the LO 2014 programme by Joanna has culminated in a programme that is a credit to her. I unreservedly recommend Joanna as a facilitator, a consultant and as a community leader.

Leadership Onkaparinga is a unique community leadership program based in the City of Onkaparinga whose purpose is to build leadership capacity for active citizenship. Leadership Onkaparinga builds on UNESCO's Four Pillars of a Learning Society. It creates a deeper understanding for participants of the relationship between leadership, community and democracy. The framework enables participants to explore issues through multiple dimensions and provides the vehicle for critical thinking, ensuring multiple perspectives are considered. The program is designed to engage community leaders by familiarising them with Onkaparinga’s unique opportunities and challenges through an intense immersion in several key perspectives, issues, policies and programs. A key element of Leadership Onkaparinga is the application of the learning through the realisation and/or exploration of a project or initiative. (Participants undertake a critical analysis about chosen issues). Participant’s projects demonstrate some of the key learning in understanding partnerships, collaboration, analysis and problem-solving. The participant’s lead projects, advocate for their communities and create sustainable lasting impact in our region - a very real demonstration of the process of democracy and its contribution to strong vibrant communities. The program introduces a new narrative in public participation by providing reciprocity of learning, knowledge and dialogue between residents and local government providing the vehicle for real social change. Harnessing and developing the talent of community leaders is essential for a region’s growth and continuing to build capacity a necessary requirement for further developing a regions intellectual, physical and mental capital. The Leadership Network formerly known as Community Leadership Australia is a growing alliance of community leadership organisations from around Australia and the Pacific region. Our new name reflects the enhanced focus on building leadership capacity in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. The Leadership Network is a growing alliance of leadership professionals and organisations from around the globe, committed to building leadership capacity that makes progress on ‘adaptive’ issues. We are building an organisation that has a broader reach including our neighbours in the Asia Pacific, a stronger focus on leadership practitioner’s professional development and a network that encompasses multiple providers of leadership training including those in the private sector. This broader reach is reflected in a change in our constitution and new membership model which opens opportunities for leadership practitioners and the private sector to join our existing membership base forging the first leadership network of its kind across the Asia Pacific. https://www.theleadershipnetwork.org.au/ Show less
