I was independently had responsibilities of serving and cleaning up for a catering company within a school as well as dealing with individuals needs such as allergies. This job allowed me to interact with many different people; varying in age and ethnicity. I mainly dealt with adult teachers so learnt good communication skills and professionalism within the work place. Also, in the summer when foreign students can to learn English I had to deal with language barriers when dealing to their needs. My experience working with this company has taught me that a positive atmosphere can increase team work and help maintain relationships between employers enabling for a better working environment. During this job I had to work independently a lot which made me learn about responsibility and time management as I had to complete my tasks at the same time as a team of people working in a different area. This enabled me to work more effectively and efficiently to get my job complete which would sometimes result in me assisting my colleagues in the other areas to complete their tasks on time.

I was Vice President of the Law Society during 2nd year. During this time I had to organise events and established mooting within the society. This was achieved by holding our first internal moots to create foundations for our university to enter into external competitions. I was able to develop my communication skills through delivering speeches to all year groups, and through phone calls and emails to lawyers. I also represented my university in football and basketball in Bucs league and varsity competitions.

I have learnt about the channels of communication and what makes for good customer interaction. I had to compose letters and emails, as well as handle calls. I collaborated well with a small team in order to meet work load targets. I have learnt about the channels of communication and what makes for good customer interaction. This experience enabled me to see the law from a different angle of the legal system. During this experience I was mainly working alongside the traffic police, but also had experience with the research and investigation team and PCSO's. When I was shadowing traffic enforcement officers I was witness to police protocols relating to dealing with Road Traffic Accidents in an emergency situation. Furthermore, I observed the whole charging and interviewing process, as well as collecting evidence when I spent time with the Research and investigation team. The time I spent with the PSCO's was an opportunity to deal with the public and learnt how to reassure the local community on safety and security matters. I also demonstrated my flexibility by working night shifts. During this time I also attended the County Court where I interviewed two defence lawyers about their career experience. I also observed a criminal interrogation of a suspect at the local police station. During this placement I learnt about law enforcement, the criminal justice system in action and how the police interact with the communities they serve. I was very proud that I was invited back by the sergeant in charge to undertake more work experience in 2015. I personally learnt that I can remain calm and assertive in a stressful scenario - evidenced by my reaction and assistance to the Police during attendance at a severe motorcycle accident.

Throughout this legal work experience I was able to witness how a small team works within legal media department. I was able to gain a basic understanding of media law by undertaking research projects. I was able to sit-in on meetings which dealt with the development of contract which enabled me to apply my knowledge from college to practical law. Also, I was able to view how an international firm communicates and works with its other firms such as their American firm with this UK firm.
