    • George Clothing Section Leader
      • Jan 2016 - Present

I oversee the day to day running of the largest profit making department in the store, including planning, implementing and validating new briefs and events, setting up the shop for the day’s trading, completing hourly floor walks, ensuring product withdrawals and recalls are actioned swiftly and that damages and claims are completed correctly and efficiently. I am responsible for the day to day delivery of tasks within the department and I am a role model to my colleagues; leading by example and coaching colleagues as I work alongside them to ensure that they are following dress, service and cleaning standards and that the department standards are met. I am the first point of contact for queries from both customers and colleagues, and I prepare and plan rotas to ensure that there is always sufficient cover across my department. I keep my colleagues fully informed and focused by carrying out daily huddles, as well as contributing to managers’ huddles and manager handovers. As part of the management team, I carry out return to work and misconduct investigations, conduct accident investigations, ensure the store is meeting safety and legal requirements, facilitate the implementation of change and support other departments in store at need, particularly Service and Admin. I assume the role of Duty Manager on a regular basis, taking responsibility for the whole store in the absence of the Store Manager. Show less

    • Gatekeeper and Cash Office Colleague
      • Apr 2014 - May 2015

My role as gatekeeper involved reducing the stock take charge to my store by analysing daily reports and subsequently investigating discrepancies in stock levels and processing any charges or credits that had been missed by the automated system. This involved working directly with the store manager, section leaders and process team as well as the regional gatekeeper and regional loss prevention manager. When I first started the store was predicted a charge but my work contributed to a 6K profit in my first year. As this role expanded I was also responsible for training further gatekeepers in store. Alongside this, my admin colleague duties involve reviewing daily reports, performing the daily cash office process, scheduling colleague hours and holidays, booking in deliveries and answering both colleague and customer queries both in-person on the shop floor and over the phone. • Regional Admin Support for North Living
      • Oct 2014 - Jan 2015

I was hand-picked for this temporary role by the Regional People Manager to supply administrative and general support for himself and the Regional Senior Manager. My main purpose was to liaise between store managers and deputy managers in the 15 stores across northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and the regional managers, gathering information, creating spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations, sending out information to the relevant people, organising meetings and travelling to weekly update meetings. I carried out these duties alongside my role as gatekeeper and store admin colleague. Show less

    • Service Colleague
      • Apr 2012 - Apr 2014

My main task was to work independently on the tills in order to process transactions quickly and efficiently whilst being personable and welcoming to all customers. However, at need I was also happy to work within a team processing deliveries, replenishing stock, seeking out specific items for customers and answering any queries they may have had, taking phone calls from customers, colleagues within the store and colleagues at other stores, as well as dealing with returns and exchanges.

    • Seasonal Colleague
      • Nov 2011 - Apr 2012

In this role I had to be extremely versatile so that I could meet the demands of the team’s increasing workload over busy periods. I picked up new skills quickly so that I could turn my hand to as many roles as possible over the festive period, including providing excellent service to customers, working deliveries and processing the warehouse to ensure stock remained available to customers at all times.

      • Aug 2012 - Aug 2015

As office manager it was my responsibility to book in all of the volunteers working at the festival once they arrived at the site. This included ensuring their ID was in line with the Borders and Immigration Policy, issuing numbered wristbands, uniforms and staff handbooks and ensuring they had read and signed the health and safety document. Once I had signed in all the volunteers and the festival had started I was responsible for assisting supervisors with shift deployment, liaising with shift supervisors to record the tabard numbers of everyone on shift, entering them into a spreadsheet and liaising with the project managers so that they could be sent to licensing at the agreed time each day, collecting shift synopsis forms from each team and ensuring they are all correctly filled in, keeping a record of and trying to contact any AWOL volunteers and keeping a record of food vouchers requested by each volunteer. Throughout the event I was also the main point of contact for both staff and volunteers with any queries, dealing with general enquiries in the Hotbox office, liaising between volunteers and senior members of staff and answering radio calls from staff across the site.
