She is an unbelievable English teacher; she brings out a passion for learning in children who otherwise have no interest in academics. Joanie uses discussion and journaling to provide all students with individualized voices. I have never met a student who did not love and respect Ms. Geffen, which is incredible considering she teaches teens. She artfully assisted me with both my college and law school applications. Her influence led me to an English degree. After all these years of schooling, she is still the most effective and memorable teacher I have had. Joanie is a colleague, a mentor, and a friend. Any student that is lucky enough to have Ms. Geffen will be forever grateful.
