The Youth As Researchers (YAR) is a global initiative on COVID-19 that connects and engages with young people to research the impacts of COVID-19 on young people. The responses they have implemented to tackle these. UNESCO and the UNESCO Chairs at the National University of Ireland Galway and Penn State University lead a consortium of youth-led or youth-related actors to support the research through training, mentoring and coordination. As a Volunteer Researcher for the Global Team on Youth-led action part of the YAR Project, I contribute to the investigation on the youth challenges and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. The activities include the following: - Complete the training for quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, research ethics, presentation and dissemination; - Collaborative research, including weekly meetings, design of data collection and analysis to study youth-led actions in response to employment and education challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic at a global scale; - Working on a diverse team with researchers from Egypt, France, India, Nigeria, Peru, the United Kingdom/Ghana to perform mixed-method research, presentation and dissemination; - Design of a participatory research proposal for the study; - Managing the team’s shared data online using Google platforms; - Co-author policy briefs and reports on youth-led actions in response to COVID-19 upon completion of the research; Show less
