Socio-Legal Researcher and Structural Editor
-
Apr 2019 - May 2020
In 2019 I took a year out to sail in the South Pacific with my family, continuing to work remotely with my then employer until the end of March that year. After which, I continued to work with academics, co-authoring and develop papers for publication. I also worked closely with a heritage consultant to develop an Australian historical monograph for publication. Achievements include: • Producing high-quality structural and copy edits, editorial reports and readers reports for publishers, and for authors seeking publication, on time and within budget. • Legal research – including reviewing legislation and public inquiries; literature reviews; and monitoring Australian and overseas media for relevant developments to ensure that all publications are based on robust, relevant and current information. • Co-authoring academic papers for publication. The Supermarket Power Project was a four year interdisciplinary ARC-funded project aimed at filling the gap in the regulatory debate about why and how supermarket chains have developed as they have and the various regulatory schemes that affect the Australian grocery sector – particularly regulation relating to competition. I was brought into the team because of, in addition to my legal training, my ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and my experience as a publisher, which meant I could provide the editorial support needed to ensure a consistent voice in co and multi-authored articles and to co-ordinate their timely publication. Achievements include: • Co-authoring eight academic papers for publication, six of which have now been published. • Conducting 80+ interviews across corporate, government and regulatory stakeholders. • Liaising with corporate, government and regulatory stakeholders to investigate the aims of the research project and to advocate for change. • Legal research, including reviewing legislation, codes of conduct and public inquiries; literature reviews; and monitoring Australian and overseas media for industry and regulatory developments to ensure that all project publications were based on robust, relevant and current information. https://law.unimelb.edu.au/centres/clen/research/supermarket-project Show less
