Jiwan har recently ended a two-year stay in my lab as a post doc working with innovative solutions for protecting aquacultured fish against bacterial infections using passive immunization approaches. It has been a pleasure from day one to collaborate with Jiwan on this project and the only reason why he had to stop was that the grant ended. Jiwan is highly competent and knowledgeable and at the same time has a great mind for solving practical challenges and coming up with new ideas and proved to be very good at keeping a clear structure in an otherwise complex project. Socially, Jiwan is easygoing and I am sure he will have no trouble adapting to different work environments just as easily as he did here. Project dealed with the passive immunization of small rainbow trout based on feeding of specific immunoglobulin against bacterial pathogens. During my postdoctoral tenure at the University of Copenhagen, I worked on four different projects : 'TARGETFISH', 'PROFISH' 'BOOSTERVAC' and 'Animal Production without Antibiotics'. My focus area had been towards alternative ways of disease prevention in fish through development of potent vaccines against fish pathogens and the use of antimicrobial peptides.
