Major Projects:1. Robotic Mechanical Weeder: a computer vision-based mechanical weed control machine for organic farming. Project Leader. > Developed algorithms to detects and localizes crop plants among high density-weeds in real-time using 2D & 3D computer vision and deep learning. > Designed the weeding mechanisms and the actuator. > Designed the control system to actuates the weeding tools to eliminate intra-row weeds. > Planned and conducted field tests to access the system performance. 2. Phenobot 3.0: a robotic ground vehicle for high quality corn traits extraction for Ag. research. Mainly responsible to navigation control and system integration. > Built the vehicle kinematic and dynamic models, and analyzed the controllability.> Fused GPS, IMU, encoder and 3D machine vision to navigate and avoid obstacles in crop rows. > Integrated the control and navigation systems using ROS and simulated using Gazebo. > Field tests will be conducted in summer 2019.
