Lynn Lowder
Jim Wong is a remarkable man who authentically cares about others' circumstances and gets involved personally to improve their lives. He is a rare blend of keen intellect, relentless work ethic, solid common sense, and astute goal-driven vision. I have known him well since our days together in Marine Corps boot camp 53 years ago. Since then, I have watched him repeatedly excel in numerous, varied settings to include: his stellar service to our nation as a Marine "Mustang" (ex-enlisted) officer and combat veteran, his many successes in leading both for-profit and non-profit businesses, and his national acclaim as a tireless advocate for entrepreneurial opportunities on behalf of our military veterans and military spouses. In the process of accomplishing so much, Jim has devoted countless hours in counseling and mentoring others seeking to find their "lane in life." I know of no one who has helped so many, so well, in this regard. He is an asset and force-multiplier to all who know him and a true Marine brother "to the core."

Jim served on the Heartspring Board of Trustees for ten years and was Chair of the Board for three consecutive years. Even before assuming the role of Board Chair, Jim was an informal leader among his fellow Board members, and he was an inspiration for staff and management. His concern for children and staff was always foremost, and his global experience and mindset were critical for our development of international outreach programs. Jim is a strategic thinker that challenges others to see multiple futures and possibilities. Though Jim was a member of our Board of Trustees, I always saw him as a friend and mentor, as did my entire family. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss Jim's many contributions to Heartspring.

Helping Veterans successfully transition from the battlefront to the homefront, NVTSI is a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) dedicated to assisting veterans in their reintegration back into the civilian sector. We accomplish this by providing an early-stage cognitive-behavioral educational intervention, via a 3-week intensive workshop – REBOOT – followed by related mentoring and other services. Co-founders Ronne Froman (RAdm, USN ret) and Maurice Wilson (MCPO, USN ret) have been recognized by the White House as Champions of Change. Show less

Founder Dick Humphrey, a Marine aviator and good friend, was such a great ally during my tour as VBOC director that I've joined his team, helping veterans and those contemplating self-employment to obtain franchises. With only a 3% chance of failure in the first year, and 8% failure within 5 years, franchises are a very resilient segment of our economy. Having been a franchisee for 10 years, with 19 restaurants, I can help veterans and others who want to be a business owner, but would prefer the safety net of a franchise. No fee for our consultation with fellow veterans, of course. Our job is to help match passion, skills, experience, and financial resources with the best fitting franchise. http://www.franchisebizexperts.com/menuitem/4200 Show less

We do this by proudly offering our unique “vharmony™️” business match-making service, connecting veterans/spouses seeking to acquire established businesses with business owners wanting to divest. Our “vharmony™️” service includes a caseworker to facilitate the often challenging road to purchase, as well as a seasoned business mentor after the completed transaction.
