Brett Barbour
Jim and I were part of the same team at IA, focused on delivering interior corporate workplace design projects. As a senior designer, Jim led and oversaw the design progress for each project. He has a strong comfort level across the spectrum of developing design concepts himself and guiding those of the team and less experienced designers. His coaching abilities are instrumental for the growth of younger staff on the team. Projects he was involved with always resulted in cohesive design teams that produced thoughtful, quality designs that responded to the needs of each client. I truly enjoyed being around Jim in the office. He is a tremendous asset to project managers to help keep a pulse on the design progress of each project and welcome addition to any design team.

IA gave me the opportunity to work with highly integrated internal design teams that include EGD, workplace strategy, guidelines, and lighting. As Senior Designer, I led multi-disciplined teams in all phases of design. Projects included workplace, retail and mixed use, and historic adaptive re-use. Promoted to Associate in 2017, I was involved in leadership for the office as well as business development. Much of my experience at NBBJ was with workplace interiors. The studio had projects with higher education and industrial, as well as corporate commercial. One opportunity involved being on-site in Shanghai for five months leading the interior design for a 5000 staff R&D tower in Beijing for Microsoft. Promoted to Associate in 2004.
