I coached a department of brand-new teachers in implementing a design thinking, project-based Science curriculum for the Breakthrough summer program. I created the curriculum pacing guide based on lessons provided by the Tech Interactive in San Jose. I also led department meetings around student and teacher progress, delegated roles around creating lesson plans and the materials, observed classes daily, and facilitated coaching conversations to best support our department. In my role as an education specialist, I designed and implemented ELA, math, and executive functioning lessons based on the Universal Design for Learning to provide Specialized Academic Instruction for students with moderate to mild disabilities. I collaborated extensively with student stakeholders (school administrators, counselors, families, general education teachers, mental health agencies, etc) to create Individualized Educational Plans, remediation plans, and behavioral plans and ensure services for the students on my caseload. I also organized and led annual/triennial IEP meetings, student support meetings, and grade-level SST meetings. In my role as a mentor, I supported 31 students throughout their middle school career. I planned and facilitated student-led conferences with my mentees and their families to discuss academic progress and short-term and long-term goals. I also completed weekly 1-1 check-ins with each mentee to help them set action steps to reach their goals and reinforce positive habits of success. In my role as a Summit Summer Fellow, I prepared and led a week-long training session for teachers and school leaders from 7 public schools and charter schools around Newark, New Jersey, to support them in the implementation of the Summit Learning Platform and Summit values in their own schools. As a Corps Member in the San Jose community, I participated in a rigorous 2-month training and internship program to develop skills to teach and advocate for students receiving special education services in urban public and charter schools. Over 2 years, I engaged in professional development activities and workshops regarding classroom management, lesson planning, and racial and socioeconomic inequity in education. Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Department of Psychiatry

As a research assistant, I managed and updated databases using the Redcap program for three separate studies at Dr. Antonio Hardan's Autism and Developmental Disabilities Program to study children with autism and other developmental disorders. I documented study participants undergoing behavioral and language tests to gauge their progress over 24 weeks of control and treatment regiments. In the past year specifically, I worked with the Observer program to evaluate the level of speech proficiency of research participants with autism spectrum disorder in structured settings to determine the efficacy of pivotal response therapy in improving language skills. Global Health Fellow for Medical Exchange and Discovery Program

I organized and oversaw 40 medical students from Japan to help them learn about the American healthcare system and healthcare policies. I facilitated hospitals tours at the Stanford Medical Center and UCSF. I led group reflections to help students process the information they receive about current healthcare issues. I helped facilitate a panel of organ donors and recipients to raise awareness to the issue of organ donation. Finally, I delivered a formal presentation to the students and to faculty on the theories and treatments regarding the autism spectrum disorders. Show less

Coordinator for American Language and Culture Program

As a program coordinator, I organized 70 college students from Asia to help them learn about American - and specifically Silicon Valley - culture. In addition to overseeing the students during their activities and field trips, I arranged company visits throughout Silicon Valley and volunteer opportunities with local nonprofits. In addition, I collaborated with the Stanford LGBTQ Community Resources Center to expose students to a current civil rights issue in the United States.
