I work with a team of 24 full-time staff to support 7,398 volunteers to deliver year-round sports training and competition in 24 sports to those 6,973 Special Olympics Maryland athletes across the state. Our athletes range in age from 8-89. There are 115,000 individuals with intellectual disabilities so for every athlete on the field of play there are 14 on the sideline. By 2018 our goal is to have 13,000 athletes training and competing. Five Overarching Goals Guide our Daily Efforts 1. Retain and recruit more athletes 2. More frequent and higher quality competitions (Local) 3. Raise More Money 4. Increase Awareness 5. Effectively manage program administration and operations Show less

A critical area of focus is the development of partnerships and relationships with sports organizations. We partner with State High School Athletic Associations and national, regional, state and local youth sport organizations to deliver coaching education to high school and volunteer youth sport coches. The courses are delivered in-person using trained instructors in a classroom setting as well as through our online delivery system. Internally, my team and I work with the E-Learning, Editorial, Production, Marketing, Sales, and Video departments to ensure that the courses and programs are published and delivered successfully to meet the needs of our partners.
