At RES, I serve as the Gulf Coast region lead ecologist for vegetation management planning on solar project sites, and I support the Texas regulatory team in wetland mitigation project planning and monitoring to facilitate permit issuance and compliance for our clients. I specialize in large-scale ecological restoration projects involving site assessment and preparation for native seeding, emergent and forested wetland planting, and invasive vegetation management. Mitigation work involves calculation of credit uplift needs based on projected impacts to jurisdictional wetlands, baseline functional assessments and wetland delineations on proposed restoration sites, development of plans for mitigation banks and permittee-responsible mitigation (PRM) projects, QA/QC of site construction and planting, monitoring field work, and reporting of monitoring results to clients and regulatory agencies. Thesis-option salaried assistantship: “Use of Extinguish PlusTM to Reduce Red Imported Fire Ants and Increase Northern Bobwhite Abundance” At Texas A&M Agrilife, I assisted research of Northern Bobwhite quail and their response to chemical treatment of Red Imported Fire Ants (RIFA) on the Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge, Eagle Lake, TX. I assisted Dr. Nova Silvy in the development of experimental methodologies for the project, performed field work which involved trapping and radio-collaring quail and the collection of food insect and RIFA abundance data, and managed interns in field work and data collection/analysis as I completed my master’s thesis.
